Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on the 21st of September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio, is an American actress. She is best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills and Kim Mills in ABC's Lost television series. After her parents' divorce her parents separated, she moved to Worthington Ohio in order to settle at Los Angeles. She landed her debut role in the film, Rachel's Room's main character in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. Her performance of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV movie Murder In Greenwich in 2002 earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. She played the lead character for two seasons and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award. After leaving the show, Grace wanted to appear more prominently in film having played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. In 2007, she was as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well as, alongside Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. Her role was reprised for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a contemporary adaptation from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role on Lost for two additional episodes, which included the finale of the series. She also was a guest in the sixth season of Californication. She portrays Faith who's the star-gazer and a groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Gyllenhaal is a member of her family and is the elder sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her acting career started as a teenager when she appeared in small parts in a few films directed from her father. Also, she worked alongside her brother on the 2001 cult film Donnie Darko. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received critical praise for her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002, erotic romantic drama) and Sherrybaby (606), both of which garnered their Golden Globe Award nods. She appeared in several commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However it was her performance as Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008). She was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Crazy Heart, (2009). Then she was able to star in comedies along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) as well as The Won't Back Down (12). The other roles she's played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller) as well as musicians in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as the role of the Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal made her debut as a writer and director in 2021, with the psycho-drama The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
